CVE-2006-2399
CVSS v2.0
7.5
High
| Vector | AV:N/AC:L/Au:N/C:P/I:P/A:P |
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions
Outgun version 1.0.3 and earlier
Description
The issue is related to a stack-based buffer overflow in the ServerNetworking::incoming client data function. This occurs when handling a data file request command with either a long type or a long name string, potentially allowing remote attackers to cause the application to crash or possibly execute arbitrary code.
Recommendations
For Outgun version 1.0.3 and earlier, as a temporary workaround, consider restricting or disabling the ServerNetworking::incoming client data function until a patch is available. Avoid using long type or name strings in the data file request command to minimize the risk of exploitation. At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this issue.
