CVSS v2.0
5.0
Medium
| Vector | AV:N/AC:L/Au:N/C:P/I:N/A:N |
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions
Tor versions prior to 0.1.1.20
Description
The issue allows attackers to conduct brute force guessing attacks more easily due to the use of OpenSSL pseudo-random bytes (RAND pseudo bytes) instead of cryptographically strong RAND bytes. Additionally, the entropy value is seeded at start-up with 160-bit chunks without reseeding.
Recommendations
For Tor versions prior to 0.1.1.20, update to version 0.1.1.20 or later to resolve the issue.
