CVE-2006-3617
CVSS v2.0
5.8
Medium
| Vector | AV:N/AC:M/Au:N/C:P/I:P/A:N |
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions
PBL Guestbook versions 1.32 and earlier
Description
The issue allows remote attackers to inject arbitrary web script or HTML via the
name, message, website, and email parameters in the pblguestbook.php file. This is possible because the XSS protection mechanisms only check for SCRIPT tags, but not other tags. Attackers can bypass these mechanisms using alternate manipulations, such as a javascript URI in an onMouseOver attribute or the src attribute in an iframe tag.Recommendations
For PBL Guestbook versions 1.32 and earlier, consider disabling the pblguestbook.php file or restricting access to it until a patch is available. As a temporary workaround, avoid using the
name, message, website, and email parameters in the pblguestbook.php file. Restrict access to the pblguestbook.php file to minimize the risk of exploitation. At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this issue.Exploit
