| Vector | AV:N/AC:H/Au:N/C:P/I:P/A:P |
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions
Vanilla CMS versions 1.0.1 and earlier
Description
The issue concerns a remote file inclusion vulnerability in the upgrader.php file of Vanilla CMS. This vulnerability can be exploited when the /conf/old settings.php file exists, allowing remote attackers to execute arbitrary PHP code via a URL in the
RootDirectory parameter. However, the vulnerability has been disputed for version 1.0, and it is unclear whether older versions are affected.Recommendations
For Vanilla CMS versions 1.0.1 and earlier, consider restricting access to the upgrader.php file and the /conf/old settings.php file to minimize the risk of exploitation. As a temporary workaround, avoid using the
RootDirectory parameter in the affected API endpoint until the issue is resolved. At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.Exploit
