5.0
Medium
| Vector | AV:N/AC:L/Au:N/C:N/I:N/A:P |
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions
DConnect Daemon versions 0.7.0 and earlier
Description
The issue allows remote attackers to cause a denial of service, resulting in an application crash. This is achieved by sending a client message before providing the nickname, which triggers a null pointer dereference in the dc chat function.
Recommendations
For versions 0.7.0 and earlier, as a temporary workaround, consider disabling the dc chat function until a patch is available. Restrict access to the cmd.dc.c module to minimize the risk of exploitation. Avoid using the affected function until the issue is resolved. At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.
