| Vector | AV:N/AC:H/Au:S/C:P/I:P/A:P |
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions
DConnect Daemon versions 0.7.0 and earlier
Description
The issue arises from multiple format string vulnerabilities that allow remote administrators to execute arbitrary code. This occurs due to the improper handling of format string specifiers when calling the (1) privmsg() or (2) pubmsg functions from various source files, including (a) cmd.user.c, (b) penalties.c, or (c) cmd.dc.c.
Recommendations
For DConnect Daemon versions 0.7.0 and earlier, consider disabling the
privmsg() and pubmsg() functions as a temporary workaround until a patch is available. Restrict access to the affected source files, including cmd.user.c, penalties.c, and cmd.dc.c, to minimize the risk of exploitation. At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.Exploit
