Description
The issue is related to a buffer overflow in the
make table function within the LHZ component of gzip. This allows attackers to execute arbitrary code by crafting a specific decoding table in a GZIP archive.Recommendations
For gzip version 1.3.5, consider updating to a newer version that addresses this issue, as the current version allows context-dependent attackers to execute arbitrary code. At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.
