Description
A stack-based buffer overflow issue exists in the Workstation service, allowing remote attackers to execute arbitrary code. This could enable an attacker to take complete control of the affected system via NetrJoinDomain2 RPC messages with a long hostname, such as
/api/NetrJoinDomain2 endpoint with a hostname variable.Recommendations
For Microsoft Windows 2000 SP4 and XP SP2, update to a version that includes the fix for this issue.
For other affected versions, at the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.
