Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions
PhpMyChat Plus versions 1.9 and earlier
Description
The issue allows remote attackers to read arbitrary files via directory traversal vulnerabilities. This can be achieved by including a .. (dot dot) in the
ChatPath parameter to various PHP files, such as "avatar.php", "colorhelp popup.php", "color popup.php", "index.php", "index1.php", "lib/connected users.lib.php", "lib/index.lib.php", and "phpMyChat.php3". Additionally, the L parameter to "logs.php" is also vulnerable.Recommendations
For PhpMyChat Plus versions 1.9 and earlier, consider restricting access to the vulnerable PHP files until a patch is available. As a temporary workaround, avoid using the
ChatPath parameter in the affected API endpoints and restrict the L parameter in "logs.php" to minimize the risk of exploitation. At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.Path traversal
