High
| Vector | AV:N/AC:L/Au:N/C:P/I:P/A:P |
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions:
chetcpasswd versions prior to 2.4
Description:
The issue is related to a heap-based buffer overflow that can be triggered by a long X-Forwarded-For HTTP header, potentially allowing remote attackers to cause a denial of service or possibly execute arbitrary code.
Recommendations:
For versions prior to 2.4, update to version 2.4 or later to resolve the issue. As a temporary workaround, consider restricting the length of the
X-Forwarded-For HTTP header to prevent exploitation.Fix
