| Vector | AV:N/AC:M/Au:N/C:P/I:P/A:P |
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions:
inotify-tools versions prior to 3.11
Description:
The issue is related to a buffer overflow in the inotifytools snprintf function, which can be exploited by context-dependent attackers to execute arbitrary code via a long filename. Additionally, there are multiple vulnerabilities in the inotify-tools package that can lead to breaches of confidentiality, integrity, and availability of protected information, and these can be exploited remotely.
Recommendations:
For versions prior to 3.11, update to version 3.11 or later to resolve the issue. As a temporary workaround, consider restricting the use of long filenames to minimize the risk of exploitation.
