Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions:
Smb4K versions prior to 0.8.0
Gentoo Linux (affected versions not specified)
Description:
The issue concerns multiple stack-based buffer overflows in Smb4K utilities. These overflows can be exploited locally by users on the Smb4K sudoers list to gain privileges. The exploitation is related to the
args variable and other unspecified variables, in conjunction with the sudo configuration. This can lead to a violation of confidentiality, integrity, and availability of protected information.Recommendations:
For Smb4K versions prior to 0.8.0, update to version 0.8.0 or later to resolve the issue.
As a temporary workaround, consider restricting access to the Smb4K sudoers list to minimize the risk of exploitation.
