Description: The issue is a stack-based buffer overflow in the RPC interface in Mediasvr.exe, allowing remote attackers to execute arbitrary code via crafted SUNRPC packets.

Recommendations: For CA Brightstor ARCserve Backup versions 9.01 through 11.5, consider disabling the RPC interface in Mediasvr.exe as a temporary workaround until a patch is available. For CA Enterprise Backup version 10.5, restrict access to the Mediasvr.exe module to minimize the risk of exploitation. For CA Protection Suites version r2, avoid using the vulnerable RPC interface in Mediasvr.exe until the issue is resolved.
