CVSS v2.0
7.1
High
| Vector | AV:N/AC:M/Au:N/C:N/I:N/A:C |
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions:
Mac OS X version 10.4.8
Description:
The issue is related to an integer overflow in the
byte swap sbin function, which can be triggered by mounting a crafted Unix File System (UFS) DMG image. This can cause a denial of service, leading to a kernel panic due to an invalid pointer dereference.Recommendations:
For Mac OS X version 10.4.8, consider avoiding the use of crafted UFS DMG images to prevent the denial of service. As a temporary workaround, restrict the mounting of external UFS DMG images until a fix is available. At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this issue.
