| Vector | AV:N/AC:M/Au:N/C:C/I:C/A:C |
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions
Mac OS X versions 10.3.9 and 10.4 through 10.4.8
Description
The issue is related to an unspecified vulnerability in ImageIO, allowing remote user-assisted attackers to cause a denial of service, potentially leading to application crashes, and possibly execute arbitrary code. This can be achieved by using a crafted RAW image that triggers memory corruption.
Recommendations
For Mac OS X versions 10.3.9 and 10.4 through 10.4.8, consider avoiding the use of ImageIO to process untrusted RAW images until a fix is available. As a temporary workaround, restrict the handling of RAW images to minimize the risk of exploitation. At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.
