| Vector | AV:L/AC:L/Au:N/C:C/I:C/A:C |
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions
Apple Mac OS X versions 10.3.9 through 10.4.9
Description
The issue concerns a problem with SMB in Apple Mac OS X where it does not properly clean the environment when executing commands. This allows local users to gain privileges by setting unspecified environment variables.
Recommendations
For Apple Mac OS X versions 10.3.9 through 10.4.9, consider restricting the execution of commands through SMB to minimize the risk of exploitation. As a temporary workaround, limit the setting of environment variables to necessary cases until a fix is available. At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.
