CVE-2007-1403

CVSS v2.0

7.5

High

VectorAV:N/AC:L/Au:N/C:P/I:P/A:P
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions Macromedia Shockwave version 10.1.4.20
Description The issue is related to multiple stack-based buffer overflows in an ActiveX control in SwDir.dll. This can be exploited by remote attackers to cause a denial of service, such as crashing Internet Explorer 7, and possibly execute arbitrary code. The overflows can occur via long property values, including BGCOLOR, SRC, AutoStart, Sound, DrawLogo, or DrawProgress.
Recommendations For Macromedia Shockwave version 10.1.4.20, consider disabling the ActiveX control in SwDir.dll as a temporary workaround until a patch is available. Restrict access to the properties BGCOLOR, SRC, AutoStart, Sound, DrawLogo, and DrawProgress to minimize the risk of exploitation. At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.
