High
| Vector | AV:N/AC:L/Au:N/C:P/I:P/A:P |
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions
Clam AntiVirus (ClamAV) versions prior to 0.90.2
Description
The issue is related to an integer signedness error in the cab unstore and cab extract functions. This error can be exploited by remote attackers via a crafted CHM file containing a negative integer. The negative integer passes a signed comparison, leading to a stack-based buffer overflow, which can result in the execution of arbitrary code.
Recommendations
For versions prior to 0.90.2, update to version 0.90.2 or later to resolve the issue. As a temporary workaround, consider restricting the processing of CHM files until the update is applied.
