Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions
InterVations MailCOPA version 8.01 20070323
Description
The issue is related to a stack-based buffer overflow that allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary code. This can be achieved by providing a long command line argument, for example, a long string in the subject field of a mailto URI.
Recommendations
For InterVations MailCOPA version 8.01 20070323, consider avoiding the use of long strings in the subject field of mailto URIs until a fix is available. As a temporary workaround, restrict the length of input in the subject field to prevent potential exploitation. At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this issue.
