| Vector | AV:N/AC:M/Au:N/C:P/I:P/A:P |
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions
Sylpheed version 2.4.4
Sylpheed-Claws (Claws Mail) versions 1.9.100 through 2.10.0
Description
The issue allows remote POP3 servers to execute arbitrary code via format string specifiers in crafted replies. This is due to a format string vulnerability in the inc put error function in src/inc.c.
Recommendations
For Sylpheed version 2.4.4, update to a version that fixes the inc put error function issue.
For Sylpheed-Claws (Claws Mail) versions 1.9.100 through 2.10.0, update to a version that fixes the inc put error function issue.
As a temporary workaround, consider restricting access to the inc put error function in src/inc.c until a patch is available.
