| Vector | AV:L/AC:L/Au:N/C:N/I:N/A:P |
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions
Linux kernel version 2.6.16
Description
The issue allows local users to cause a denial of service, specifically CPU consumption, by exploiting the process scheduler in the Linux kernel. This is possible because the scheduler gives preference to "interactive" processes that perform voluntary sleeps.
Recommendations
For Linux kernel version 2.6.16, consider applying a patch or configuration change to modify the process scheduler's behavior and prevent CPU consumption denial of service attacks. However, at the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.
