CVE-2007-3955

CVSS v2.0

6.8

Medium

VectorAV:N/AC:M/Au:N/C:P/I:P/A:P
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions: LinkedIn Toolbar version 3.0.2.1098
Description: The issue is related to a buffer overflow in the IEToolbar.IEContextMenu.1 ActiveX control in LinkedInIEToolbar.dll. This can be exploited by remote attackers to execute arbitrary code via a long second argument (varBrowser argument) to the search method.
Recommendations: For LinkedIn Toolbar version 3.0.2.1098, consider disabling the search method in the IEToolbar.IEContextMenu.1 ActiveX control as a temporary workaround until a patch is available. Restrict access to the LinkedInIEToolbar.dll to minimize the risk of exploitation. At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.
