| Vector | AV:L/AC:M/Au:N/C:P/I:P/A:P |
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions
ProSecurity version 1.40 Beta 2
Description
The issue is related to the improper validation of certain parameters to System Service Descriptor Table (SSDT) function handlers. This can be exploited by local users to cause a denial of service (crash) and possibly gain privileges. The vulnerability affects kernel SSDT hooks for various Windows Native API functions, including
NtCreateKey, NtDeleteFile, NtLoadDriver, NtOpenSection, and NtSetSystemTime.Recommendations
For ProSecurity version 1.40 Beta 2, consider restricting access to the SSDT function handlers as a temporary workaround until a patch is available. Avoid using the vulnerable Windows Native API functions, including
NtCreateKey, NtDeleteFile, NtLoadDriver, NtOpenSection, and NtSetSystemTime, in the affected kernel SSDT hooks to minimize the risk of exploitation. At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.RCE
