CVE-2007-5029

CVSS v2.0

5.0

Medium

VectorAV:N/AC:L/Au:N/C:N/I:N/A:P
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions Dibbler version 0.6.0
Description The issue arises from the failure to verify certain length parameters for buffer sizes, allowing remote attackers to trigger a buffer over-read. This can cause a denial of service, resulting in a daemon crash. The problem is demonstrated by the incorrect behavior of the TSrvMsg constructor in SrvMessages/SrvMsg.cpp, specifically when reading the option code and option length, and when parsing options.
Recommendations For Dibbler version 0.6.0, consider applying a patch or fix that properly verifies length parameters for buffer sizes to prevent buffer over-reads and subsequent daemon crashes. At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.
