CVE-2007-5241
CVSS v2.0
5.0
Medium
| Vector | AV:N/AC:L/Au:N/C:N/I:N/A:P |
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions:
HP OpenVMS versions 8.3 and earlier
Description:
A buffer overflow issue in the NET$CSMACD.EXE module allows local users to cause a denial of service, resulting in a machine crash. This can be achieved by executing the "MCR MCL SHOW CSMA-CD Port * All" command, which overwrites a Non-Paged Pool Packet.
Recommendations:
For HP OpenVMS versions 8.3 and earlier, consider restricting access to the NET$CSMACD.EXE module to minimize the risk of exploitation. As a temporary workaround, avoid using the "MCR MCL SHOW CSMA-CD Port * All" command until a fix is available.
Fix
Buffer Overflow
