Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions:
Microsoft Windows Vista
Description:
A remote code execution issue exists in the Server Message Block Version 2 (SMBv2) protocol, allowing a remote anonymous attacker to execute arbitrary code with the privileges of the logged-on user via a crafted SMBv2 packet. This is due to an unspecified vulnerability in SMBv2 signing support.
Recommendations:
For Microsoft Windows Vista, apply the necessary patch to fix the SMBv2 signing vulnerability.
As a temporary workaround, consider restricting access to SMBv2 protocol until a patch is available.
