Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions
bcoos version 1.0.10
Description
A directory traversal issue exists, allowing remote attackers to include and execute arbitrary local files. This can be achieved by using a .. (dot dot) in the
xoopsOption[pagetype] parameter to the default URI for modules/news/. The issue can be leveraged by uploading a file containing malicious code using legitimate product functionality, and then including that file.Recommendations
For bcoos version 1.0.10, consider restricting access to the
include/common.php file and the modules/news/ endpoint to minimize the risk of exploitation. Avoid using the xoopsOption[pagetype] parameter in the affected API endpoint until the issue is resolved. At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.Exploit
