CVSS v2.0

6.8

Medium

VectorAV:N/AC:M/Au:N/C:P/I:P/A:P
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions VideoLAN VLC versions prior to 0.8.6f
Description The issue is related to multiple integer overflows in the VideoLAN VLC media player, which can be exploited by a remote attacker to cause a denial of service (crash). This is achieved through the MP4 demuxer, Real demuxer, and Cinepak codec, triggering a buffer overflow.
Recommendations For versions prior to 0.8.6f, update to version 0.8.6f or later to resolve the issue. As a temporary workaround, consider restricting access to the MP4 demuxer, Real demuxer, and Cinepak codec until a patch is available.
