CVSS v2.0
6.8
Medium
| Vector | AV:N/AC:M/Au:N/C:P/I:P/A:P |
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions
OpenOffice versions prior to 2.4
Description
The issue is related to an integer overflow in OpenOffice, which can be exploited by a remote attacker to gain access to confidential data, compromise data integrity, and cause a denial of service. The exploitation may involve a crafted EMF file with a specific EMR STRETCHBLT record, potentially leading to a heap-based buffer overflow and allowing the execution of arbitrary code.
Recommendations
For versions prior to 2.4, update to version 2.4 or later to resolve the issue. As a temporary workaround, consider restricting the opening of EMF files or disabling the processing of EMR STRETCHBLT records until a patch is applied.
