Description
The issue arises from the ExpandCert function's improper handling of '/' and '=' characters in a Distinguished Name (DN) in a client certificate. This could potentially allow remote attackers to bypass authentication by crafting a DN that triggers the overwriting of environment variables.
Recommendations
For Apache-SSL versions prior to apache 1.3.41+ssl 1.59, update to version apache 1.3.41+ssl 1.59 or later to resolve the issue.
