| Vector | AV:N/AC:M/Au:N/C:C/I:C/A:C |
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions
UltraVNC versions 1.0.2 through 1.0.4
Description
The issue is a stack-based buffer overflow in the
ClientConnection::NegotiateProtocolVersion function, which can be exploited by remote attackers to execute arbitrary code or cause a denial of service. This occurs when UltraVNC is in LISTENING mode or when using the DSM plugin, and is triggered by a modified size value.Recommendations
For versions 1.0.2 through 1.0.4, consider disabling the
ClientConnection::NegotiateProtocolVersion function until a patch is available to prevent exploitation. Additionally, restrict the use of the DSM plugin and avoid using LISTENING mode to minimize the risk of exploitation. At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.Exploit
