CVE-2008-0974
CVSS v2.0
5.0
Medium
| Vector | AV:N/AC:L/Au:N/C:N/I:N/A:P |
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions
Double-Take versions 5.0.0.2865 and earlier
Description
The issue allows remote attackers to cause a denial of service, resulting in daemon termination. This can be achieved through two methods:
- by sending a large
vector<T>value, which raises a "vector too long" exception, - or by sending a certain packet that raises an exception in the
ospace/time/srcdate.cppfile.
Recommendations
For Double-Take versions 5.0.0.2865 and earlier, consider restricting access to the service to minimize the risk of exploitation until a patch is available.
As a temporary workaround, avoid using large
vector<T> values in the affected API endpoint until the issue is resolved.
Restrict the handling of certain packets that may raise exceptions in the ospace/time/srcdate.cpp file to prevent daemon termination.Fix
