CVE-2008-1684

CVSS v2.0

4.7

Medium

VectorAV:L/AC:M/Au:N/C:N/I:N/A:C
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions inetd on Sun Solaris 10
Description The issue allows local users to write to arbitrary files via a symlink attack on the /var/tmp/inetd.log temporary file when debug logging is enabled.
Recommendations For inetd on Sun Solaris 10, consider disabling debug logging as a temporary workaround to prevent exploitation. Restrict access to the /var/tmp/inetd.log file to minimize the risk of arbitrary file writing. At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.
