Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions
Motorola Surfboard version SB5100-2.3.3.0-SCM00-NOSH
Description
The issue affects Motorola Surfboard devices, allowing remote attackers to cause a denial of service. This can be achieved in two ways: by causing a device reboot via the "Restart Cable Modem" value in the
BUTTON INPUT parameter to "configdata.html", or by causing a hard reset via the "Reset All Defaults" value in the BUTTON INPUT parameter to "configdata.html".Recommendations
For version SB5100-2.3.3.0-SCM00-NOSH, as a temporary workaround, consider restricting access to the "configdata.html" endpoint to minimize the risk of exploitation. Avoid using the
BUTTON INPUT parameter in the affected endpoint until the issue is resolved. At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.Exploit
