| Vector | AV:L/AC:L/Au:N/C:N/I:N/A:C |
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions
HP Linux Imaging and Printing (HPLIP) version 1.6.7
Description
The issue allows local users to cause a denial of service, resulting in the process stopping, by sending a crafted packet. This can be achieved by sending a message such as "msg=0" to the TCP port 2207.
Recommendations
For HP Linux Imaging and Printing (HPLIP) version 1.6.7, consider restricting access to TCP port 2207 to minimize the risk of exploitation. As a temporary workaround, avoid using the hpssd message parser in hpssd.py until a patch is available.
