Description:
The issue makes it easier for attackers to conduct brute-force attacks against hashed passwords due to the use of the DES algorithm when the configuration specifies the MD5 algorithm.
Recommendations:
For SUSE openSUSE version 11.0, consider updating the configuration to use a stronger algorithm than DES to mitigate the risk of brute-force attacks against hashed passwords. At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.
