CVE-2008-3827
CVSS v2.0
9.3
High
| Vector | AV:N/AC:M/Au:N/C:C/I:C/A:C |
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions
MPlayer versions 1.0 rc2 and earlier
Description
The issue is related to multiple integer underflows in the Real demuxer, which can be exploited by remote attackers using a crafted video file. This exploitation can lead to a denial of service, causing the process to terminate, and potentially allow the execution of arbitrary code. The
stream read function is affected, allowing it to read or write arbitrary memory.Recommendations
For MPlayer versions 1.0 rc2 and earlier, consider updating to a newer version that addresses these integer underflows as a permanent solution. As a temporary workaround, restrict the use of the Real demuxer to minimize the risk of exploitation. Avoid using the affected
stream read function until the issue is resolved.Fix
