CVE-2008-4829

CVSS v2.0

9.3

High

VectorAV:N/AC:M/Au:N/C:C/I:C/A:C
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions Streamripper version 1.63.5
Description The issue is related to multiple buffer overflows in the lib/http.c file. These overflows can be triggered by remote attackers through various means, including a long "Zwitterion v" HTTP header related to the http parse sc header function, a crafted pls playlist with a long entry related to the http get pls function, or a crafted m3u playlist with a long File entry related to the http get m3u function. This can potentially allow the execution of arbitrary code.
Recommendations For Streamripper version 1.63.5, consider disabling the http parse sc header, http get pls, and http get m3u functions as a temporary workaround until a patch is available. Restrict access to the lib/http.c module to minimize the risk of exploitation. Avoid using long headers or crafted playlists in the affected API endpoints until the issue is resolved. At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.
