CVSS v2.0
6.2
Medium
| Vector | AV:L/AC:H/Au:N/C:C/I:C/A:C |
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions
IBM AIX versions 6.1.0 through 6.1.2
Description
A buffer overflow issue exists in autoconf6 when Role-Based Access Control is enabled, allowing local users with aix.network.config.tcpip authorization to gain privileges. The issue can be exploited via unspecified vectors.
Recommendations
For IBM AIX versions 6.1.0 through 6.1.2, consider disabling Role-Based Access Control as a temporary workaround until a patch is available. Restrict access to the aix.network.config.tcpip authorization to minimize the risk of exploitation. At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this issue.
