CVE-2008-5492

CVSS v2.0

9.3

High

VectorAV:N/AC:M/Au:N/C:C/I:C/A:C
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions VeryDOC PDF Viewer OCX Control version 2.0.0.1
Description The issue is related to a heap-based buffer overflow in the PDFVIEW.PdfviewCtrl.1 ActiveX control, which is part of the pdfview.ocx component. This can be exploited by remote attackers to execute arbitrary code when a long first argument is passed to the OpenPDF method.
Recommendations For version 2.0.0.1, consider restricting access to the OpenPDF method until a patch is available. As a temporary workaround, avoid using the OpenPDF method with long arguments to minimize the risk of exploitation. At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this issue.
