CVE-2008-5702

CVSS v2.0

7.2

High

VectorAV:L/AC:L/Au:N/C:C/I:C/A:C
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions Linux kernel versions prior to 2.6.28-rc1
Description A buffer underflow issue exists in the ibwdt ioctl function in drivers/watchdog/ib700wdt.c. This could potentially allow local users to have an unknown impact via a certain /dev/watchdog WDIOC SETTIMEOUT IOCTL call.
Recommendations For Linux kernel versions prior to 2.6.28-rc1, update to version 2.6.28-rc1 or later to resolve the issue. As a temporary workaround, consider restricting access to the /dev/watchdog device to minimize the risk of exploitation.
