CVE-2008-6235

CVSS v2.0

9.3

High

VectorAV:N/AC:M/Au:N/C:C/I:C/A:C
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions: Vim versions 7.0 through 7.1
Description: The issue allows user-assisted attackers to execute arbitrary commands via shell metacharacters in a filename used by the "D" (delete) command or b:netrw curdir variable. This has been demonstrated using test cases.
Recommendations: For versions 7.0 and 7.1, consider disabling the netrw.vim plugin until a patch is available. Restrict access to the b:netrw curdir variable and avoid using the "D" command with untrusted filenames to minimize the risk of exploitation.
