| Vector | AV:N/AC:M/Au:N/C:N/I:N/A:C |
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions
Cisco IOS versions 12.0 through 12.4
Description
The issue is related to the handling of IP sockets in Cisco IOS, which can lead to a denial of service attack when certain features are enabled. A sequence of specially crafted TCP/IP packets could cause the configured feature to stop accepting new connections or sessions, consume device memory, result in prolonged high CPU utilization, or cause the device to reload.
Recommendations
For Cisco IOS versions 12.0 through 12.4, update to a version that includes the software updates released by Cisco to address this issue.
As a temporary workaround, consider implementing the mitigation strategies outlined in the Cisco Security Advisory.
Restrict access to the affected features to minimize the risk of exploitation.
