CVSS v2.0
9.3
High
| Vector | AV:N/AC:M/Au:N/C:C/I:C/A:C |
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions
CoolPlayer+ Portable versions 2.19.6 and earlier
Description
The issue allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary code via a long string in a malformed playlist (.m3u) file. This can be achieved by exploiting a stack-based buffer overflow in the software.
Recommendations
For CoolPlayer+ Portable versions 2.19.6 and earlier, consider updating to a newer version to mitigate the risk of exploitation. As a temporary workaround, restrict the use of malformed playlist files to minimize the risk of arbitrary code execution. Avoid using the software to open untrusted or unknown .m3u files until the issue is resolved.
