The issue is related to multiple heap-based buffer overflows in the D-Link MPEG4 Viewer ActiveX Control. This can be exploited by remote attackers to execute arbitrary code via a long argument to the
SetFilePath and SetClientCookie methods.Recommendations:
For D-Link MPEG4 Viewer ActiveX Control version 2.11.918.2006, consider disabling the
SetFilePath and SetClientCookie methods until a patch is available. Restrict access to the csviewer.ocx module to minimize the risk of exploitation. At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this issue.Fix
