Description
A spoofing issue exists in the CryptoAPI component when handling X.509 certificates. This issue allows man-in-the-middle attackers to impersonate arbitrary SSL servers via a crafted certificate. The problem arises from the improper handling of a '0' character in a domain name in the subject's Common Name field of an X.509 certificate.
Recommendations
For Microsoft Windows 2000 SP4, Windows XP SP2 and SP3, Windows Server 2003 SP2, Windows Vista Gold, SP1, and SP2, Windows Server 2008 Gold, SP2, and R2, and Windows 7, update to a version that includes the fix for this issue.
At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.
