CVE-2009-2949

CVSS v2.0

9.3

High

VectorAV:N/AC:M/Au:N/C:C/I:C/A:C
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions OpenOffice versions prior to 3.2
Description The issue is related to an integer overflow in the XPMReader::ReadXPM function. This can be exploited by a remote attacker to access confidential data, compromise data integrity, and cause a denial of service. The exploitation is possible via a crafted XPM file that triggers a heap-based buffer overflow, potentially allowing the execution of arbitrary code.
Recommendations For OpenOffice versions prior to 3.2, update to version 3.2 or later to resolve the issue. As a temporary workaround, consider restricting the use of the XPMReader::ReadXPM function until a patch is available. Avoid using crafted XPM files that could trigger the heap-based buffer overflow.
