| Vector | AV:L/AC:M/Au:N/C:N/I:N/A:C |
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions
Linux kernel version 2.6.9
Description
The issue is related to the nfs lock function in the Linux kernel, which does not properly remove POSIX locks on files that are setgid without group-execute permission. This allows local users to cause a denial of service by locking a file on an NFS filesystem and then changing the file's permissions.
Recommendations
For Linux kernel version 2.6.9, consider updating to a newer version that addresses this issue, as the current version may cause a system crash when a local user locks a file on an NFS filesystem and then changes the file's permissions. At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.
