CVE-2009-1299

CVSS v2.0

6.9

Medium

VectorAV:L/AC:M/Au:N/C:C/I:C/A:C
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions PulseAudio versions 0.9.10 through 0.9.19
Description The issue allows local users to change the ownership and permissions of arbitrary files via a symlink attack on a /tmp/.esd-##### temporary file. This is due to a problem in the pa make secure dir function in core-util.c.
Recommendations For PulseAudio versions 0.9.10 through 0.9.19, consider restricting access to the pa make secure dir function until a patch is available. As a temporary workaround, avoid using the /tmp/.esd-##### temporary file to minimize the risk of exploitation. At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.
