Description
The issue allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary code via an SIPR codec field with a small length value that triggers incorrect memory allocation. This is a result of a heap-based buffer overflow.
Recommendations
For RealPlayer versions 10.5 6.0.12.1040 through 6.0.12.1741, update to a version outside of this range to resolve the issue.
For RealPlayer versions 11.0.0 through 11.0.4, update to a version later than 11.0.4 to mitigate the risk.
For RealPlayer Enterprise, at the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.
For Mac RealPlayer versions 10, 10.1, and 11.0, consider disabling the use of the SIPR codec until a patch is available.
For Linux RealPlayer version 10, restrict access to the SIPR codec to minimize the risk of exploitation.
For Helix Player versions 10.x, avoid using the SIPR codec in affected configurations until the issue is resolved.
